Why Does Almost Nobody Demand the Hostages Be Released?

I can’t get my mind off the hostages in Gaza.

It blows my mind that with all the people protesting to support Palestinians–and I can understand why many of them sincerely believe they are simply calling for peace, even if they are in fact just useful idiots–none of these people overflowing with empathy have expressed any concern about the hostages.

I was 15 years old during the Iran hostage crisis, and the news about it was nonstop because Americans cared about it. While I can sorta/kinda understand why Americans aren’t up in arms about Israeli hostages (although they sure care about Gazans), they aren’t the only ones being held.

There are at least 9 Americans hostage in Gaza today, including a 3-year-old whose parents were killed in the pogrom on 10/7.

Who is protesting for them? Do any of the peaceniks care a whit about them? Or are they trying to erase them from existence by tearing down the hostage flyers?

Hundreds of thousands of Americans have taken to the streets, both to protest Israel’s war against Gaza and for many to tear down images of the hostages taken by Hamas–a symbol of just how much disrespect they have for Jewish lives.

Over the past month almost all the energy expended by the Left and the MSM–but I repeat myself–has been to humanize the Palestinians in Gaza and generate sympathy for them. Gazans are in fact human, and at least a few of them deserve our sympathy for having to undergo the horrors of war.

But one of the main reasons they are being forced to is Hamas’ insistence on using barbaric tactics, such as hiding in hospitals and schools and shooting their own citizens to keep them in the war zone. Little emphasis is put on Hamas’ barbarity, but hundreds or thousands of hours have been broadcast about how evil Israel is.

The hostages should be a huge part of the story, both because they are being cruelly and intentionally victimized by the Hamas terrorists, and because they are a constant reminder that this war is being fought because Hamas is a vicious death cult that routinely violates all the rules of civility.

Instead of getting at least a modest nod to the humanity of the hostages, outright hostility comes from the hordes protesting for Hamas.

And those hoards are becoming more and more open about their own goals: the eradication of Israel and the Jews.

My question to the useful idiots out there who keep on saying they just want peace is: why have you not spoken up for the hostages?

Supporters of Israel have, of course, but I haven’t seen any of those people calling for a ceasefire also call on Hamas to release hostages. Do they approve? Do they not care? Are the hostages less than human?

For me, I can’t get past this omission on their part. If they care for humanity so much, why are they saying nothing about holding women and children hostage?

An Israeli woman just gave birth while being held captive. Grandmothers and grandchildren are being held underground. Is this somehow OK? Don’t you think this says something about just what Hamas really is?

Or do you only expect civilized behavior from the Jews?
