American Federation of Teachers Affiliate Endorses Violence Against Israel

You know the American Federation of Teachers, right? The execrable Randi Weingarten’s organization worked hard to ensure that American schoolchildren were as harmed by COVID-19 school closures as was humanly possible.

Well just to put an exclamation mark on just how awful the organization can be, one of its affiliates in Kansas has endorsed the Hamas terrorism in Israel as a necessary and righteous tactic in order to toss the Israeli “colonialist” settlers out of the state of Israel.

You gotta love it. At least they are working hard to make it as clear as possible that they want the Jews kicked out of the entire Middle East, not just the Arab countries that are essentially Judenrein.

Before I get into the substance of the letter, which I have screenshot in case they take it down, let me address the essential lie upon which much criticism of Israel is based: that Israel is an apartheid state.

This claim is ridiculous on its face. In Israel Jews and Arabs share the same rights and representation in the Knesset, Arabs can pursue and practice any profession, and Israel also welcomes Arabs including Palestinians into the country to work. In Jerusalem, Arabs can practice their religion and go to their holy sites–which was not the case when Palestinians ruled the city.

Israel is arguably one of the only NON-apartheid states in the region. Jews are not welcome in most Arab countries, although that has been changing in recent years. Certainly, Palestinians don’t welcome Jews in their territories. So just who practices apartheid?

So let’s look at that letter, which was written by the University of Kansas Graduate Teaching Assistants Coalition, a member union of the AFT:

As a labor union concerned with the dignity of life for workers everywhere, GTAC’s leadership unequivocally supports a free Palestine and demands an end to the illegal occupation of Palestinian territory. We condemn the ongoing settler colonial project, known as the nation-state of Israel, which does not represent all Jewish people and is not synonymous with biblical Israel. We condemn the ethnic genocide and sexual violence against and the expulsion and maiming of the Palestinian people which began with the 1948 Nakba and has continued since. We refuse to stay silent in the face of deadly and inhuman injustices. Violence will necessarily continue as long as apartheid and settler colonialism exist. Palestinians must be free if we ever hope to see peace.

We encourage our members to educate themselves on and teach about the apartheid of Palestine, which is a direct result of racist violence, including both the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land and the forced displacement of Jewish people from Europe. We must remember Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed where he explains, “With the establishment of oppression, violence has already begun. Never in history has violence been initiated by the oppressed. How could they be the initiator, if they themselves are the result of violence?”

Note how they quote Paulo Freire, a famous critical theory advocate of ideological propaganda as the foundation of education, and obviously an advocate of violence. He was of course celebrated for his radicalism.

This letter puts a punctuation mark on both the corruption of academia–teaching assistants are graduate students destined to be the next generation of professors–and of our public schools. These are members of the AFT, which represents K-12 school teachers as well.

These are the people we hire to educate the next generation. And they openly advocate for using our education system to overturn our society and all “settler colonialist” societies, which means the entire West.

These are the enemies in our midst. They run our schools and our universities. They graduate the people who become the MSM, corporate leaders, and our bureaucrats. And by now you can see that many such people are becoming elected officials.

Time to clean house, if we can. It may already be too late.
