Mellencamp made his ridiculous assertion during a podcast with Bill Maher, along with a string of other nonsensical BS about race, politics, and guns.

To me the most interesting thing about Mellencamp’s exchange with Maher was not his insane assertion that modern America remains a hellhole for Blacks; by now one has come to expect insane takes from racialists who fetishize invented oppression and marinate in it.

No, it was his admission after Maher called him out on the stupidity of what he was saying. Mellencamp admitted that he just pulled the number 1%-2% out of his ass. He simply made it up, and that is just fine with him.

Yes! Yes, you did! In fact, the whole narrative was pulled out of his ass, as is the entire CRT/alphabet ideology/Leftist critical theory BS. It all depends upon the constant repetition of made-up horse crap.

This is what is so infuriating about listening to Leftists, and about being subjected to the amen chorus that the MSM has become. They take something with a kernel of truth and then simply distort everything out of all proportion.

If a conversation started with the assertion: “Race relations could be much better in the United States, and Blacks sometimes suffer due to racial biases” almost everybody would agree. We could then have a conversation about how bad the problem is and how best to address it. We could expand the conversation into the history of slavery and racism, how things have changed, and to what extent today’s problems are driven by mutual misunderstandings and distrust.

Instead, the Leftists say things like “America is a White Supremacist country and it must be destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up.” There is no place to go from there, because the contention is so absurd, and we wind up debating about whether racism exists. Anybody who disagrees with the original assertion is labeled a racist White Supremacist–and racism gets worse, not better.

“Screw it, I no longer care if I am labeled a racist” is the only rational response. It makes most people give up because nothing one does ever makes a difference.

With issue after issue, the same thing happens. The Left doesn’t want to make things better; they simply want to hurt everybody else. It really is that simple.

The amount of damage that is done by this sort of crap is incalculable. There is nothing harmless about this tactic. Politics is everywhere and always conflictual because politics exists to resolve conflicts peacefully as often as humanly possible. We have to find ways to live together and reduce the friction without constant warfare and oppression.

If one side refuses to talk, refuses to acknowledge progress, and is determined to not only win but humiliate the other side then the inevitable result is at best a constant state of anger, and at worst open warfare.

Of course, the Left is fine with open warfare–see 2020–as long as everybody else sticks to the rules of civilization. At some point, though, people just say “Screw it” and fight back.

This is why we cheer when we see store owners beat down an armed robber. People won’t obey the rules if their antagonists don’t, and frankly shouldn’t have to.

This is why Mellencamp’s rambling was a good thing: he just pulls things out of his ass, and as with everything that comes from there it stinks like sh!t.
