I am a fan of The Daily Wire.

I suppose they are a competitor to Hot Air, but nobody has yet given me crap for praising them, so I will continue to praise them.

Besides, Matt Walsh retweeted me once. For that alone I am in his debt.

The Daily Wire popped up twice in my news feed on two different stories that require a comment. The first is a near-perfect troll of the transgender ideologues, who always insist that gender is entirely determined by feelings and can be discerned only by the person’s claims.

You may have heard the story of Ryan Webb, the Republican city councilman who came out as a lesbian transgender woman of color. “She” has subsequently been vilified as a faker based upon the utterly hypocritical judgments of “her” fellow transgender allies.

A group of people who insist that formerly male rapists and child abusers can “discover” their true gender before, during, or after trial for heinous sex-based crimes and be housed with female inmates are now insisting that an upstanding member of the community, married with children, is lying about who he really is.

A white Republican councilman came out recently as a trans woman of color. Shockingly, this brave pioneer has been rejected by the trans community. I had the chance to sit down with Ryan. Her story is both heartbreaking and inspirational.

Ryan sat down with Matt Walsh to discuss his journey of gender discovery and the pain and horror he feels at being rejected by his chosen community.

Ryan has been subjected to terrifying racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia directed at him by the alphabet activists. People whose entire life’s work is to force us to accept the word of every Tom, Dick, and Harry regarding their own gender identity are now rejecting Ryan’s.

Their transphobia is a wonder to behold. Ryan is following the science, and these transphobic science deniers are cruelly attacking him for his stunning and brave openness.

Matt does a wonderful “60 Minutes”-style interview, and I think he is doing the world a great service by spreading the word about how transgender folx are just like you and me. They can even dress just like you and me!

The other Daily Wire-related story is less uplifting. In it, we learn that a gay professor was placed on leave for distributing chocolate that was sold by the Daily Wire.

David Richardson is gay, but the wrong KIND of gay man. He is fixated on biology and science, and that is simply unforgivable.

California community college is investigating a tenured history professor for the “serious misconduct” of handing out chocolate, he claims.

The composition of the chocolate wasn’t the problem for Madera Community College, David Richardson told Just the News. It was the gender pronouns on the wrappers: “He/Him” for chocolate bars with nuts and “She/Her” for the “nutless” version, reflecting the human sexual binary.

He shared the human resources letter delivered “by a uniformed police officer” Monday evening at his home.

The State Center Community College District informed the 33-year veteran he was on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into unspecified allegations of creating a “hostile work environment” and harassing and discriminating against colleagues “based on gender.”

In the meantime, Richardson is banned from “non-public” areas of the district and his Madera email and prohibited from “any action which could be construed as retaliation against anyone,” the letter says.

The Daily Wire started selling the chocolate as a fun tease of Hershey’s, which used a transgender “woman” to celebrate International Woman’s Day by introducing Her She’s chocolate bars. The Daily Wire immediately shot back at the absurdity by releasing “Jeremy’s Chocolate,” with two flavors: SheHer bars, and HeHim bars, which have nuts.

It is these chocolate bars that apparently can get you punished. At least in academia, and probably throughout corporate America.

Which of course makes The Daily Wire’s point.

A similar, and much more elaborate prank by the Daily Wire which has, I believed, turned into a profitable business for them is their Jeremy’s Razors line of products. Launched after Harry’s Razors dropped their advertising partnership with the Daily Wire, criticizing the company for being politically incorrect, the company launched its competing products. With the best damn commercial ever produced.

People who never watch anything but cherry-picked clips from Daily Wire shows are missing out, and worse, getting the wrong impression of their battle to save the culture. Their content is usually fun, intellectually stimulating, and makes a real impact.

There are lots of niches to fill in the conservative cultural landscape, and it is important to fill all of them. For too long conservatives have limited ourselves to talking to each other. Most of what I do fits into that category, and it is a vital part of the cultural landscape.

Yet it’s good to see others fill different niches. Louder with Crowder was about using humor to poke fun at the Left, making an important point. YouTube and Rumble are developing a large ecosystem of cultural and intellectual influencers. Talk radio was where conservatives first burst out into the cultural scene, and Rush Limbaugh led the way with humor, bombast, and brilliant commentary. We need more stuff like this.

As depressing as the cultural landscape is in the mainstream, with even Disney pushing a queer agenda, it’s actually refreshing to see so many smart, funny, and articulate influencers arising on the Right.
