Well, this is interesting.

Rep. James Comer and Senator Chuck Grassley have dropped a bomb. A big bomb.

They just sent a letter to the FBI revealing that an FBI whistleblower has disclosed to them that the FBI has in its possession solid evidence that Joe Biden participated in a bribery scheme while Vice President of the United States.

The letter is quite specific, referring to a document that is in the possession of the law enforcement agency that details the entire scheme.

WASHINGTON – Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member and long-time whistleblower advocate Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today are demanding the FBI produce an unclassified record alleging a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national. The document, an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, allegedly details an arrangement involving an exchange of money for policy decisions. Comer issued a subpoena today following legally protected disclosures to Grassley’s office.

“We believe the FBI possesses an unclassified internal document that includes very serious and detailed allegations implicating the current President of the United States. What we don’t know is what, if anything, the FBI has done to verify these claims or investigate further. The FBI’s recent history of botching politically charged investigations demands close congressional oversight,” Grassley said.

“The information provided by a whistleblower raises concerns that then-Vice President Biden allegedly engaged in a bribery scheme with a foreign national. The American people need to know if President Biden sold out the United States of America to make money for himself. Senator Grassley and I will seek the truth to ensure accountability for the American people,” Comer said.

If there is such a thing as a political bombshell, I think this would qualify. On the other hand, ticking time bombs in Washington DC tend to only blow up if Republicans are the target, so don’t hold your breath. I think you can rest assured that the bomb squad is on the scene and is doing everything they can to defuse it.

Grassley, of course, is in the minority in the Senate, and the level of enthusiasm among Democrats for investigating and impeaching the president is likely to be very low. Comer is in the House where impeachments begin, but I suspect that it will take a million years to even get the document.

Impeachment is ultimately a political process, and despite all the discussion of “crimes” during the Trump impeachments, an actual violation of the law is not necessary to successfully impeach the president.

Conversely, a president who violates the law need not actually be impeached. It might be difficult to fail to do so, but impeachment is not a legal proceeding. It only mirrors one, a bit.

Republicans are going to be excited to see how this moves forward. Me? Obviously, I am very interested and would love to see a serious investigation, and in the likely case that this is real would love to see Biden take the fall.

But I know that is very unlikely, barring a decision at the highest levels of the Democrat Party that Biden is just too toxic a president to run for reelection.

I don’t see that happening. Instead, I expect the Democrats to circle the wagons, scream racism, hug a transgender 2-year-old, and go enjoy a drag show drinking Bud Light.
