I had vaguely, perhaps, heard of the group “Declare Emergency,” but paid them no attention because they seemed to be a bunch of harmless loons of which there is a surplus in the world.

But perhaps they aren’t so harmless after all. They are stepping up their “civil disobedience” activities and beginning to cause real if still limited, harm.

I decided to write about them because they have been on a roll recently, with the latest two stunts pulled off by them being an attack at the National Gallery on a Degas statue that was thankfully behind glass, and a protest that blocked Washington D.C.’s George Washington Parkway during rush hour.

The former attack is just an annoying stunt, in line with other recent attacks by the Stop Oil fanatics attacking artworks. The latter attack is more significant, and if it happened in any city other than Washington D.C. I would wholeheartedly decry it as disrupting people’s lives and harming our economy, and ironically, our environment by leaving a bunch of cars idling on a major thoroughfare.

But it was DC. They probably delayed some other attack on the US economy that would have been perpetrated by federal employees, so maybe it was a net positive to our quality of life in America.

Just kidding.

Two school busses were among the vehicles blocked by climate activists this morning during rush hour in Washington DC.

"I get y'all's protest, but we've got kids on the school bus that have to get to school!" one driver said.

As police issued a final warning to the climate activists, one described that it's her 32nd birthday and "I can't celebrate a future that looks so bleak."

What is striking to me is how all of these activists are adults, not spoiled brats as we usually see. The children involved in the Just Stop Oil movement are brainwashed spoiled brats who have been systematically denied either the educational background to understand the science behind climate change or been availed of any information that would give them pause in their belief that life on Earth is about to end.

They have been indoctrinated into a cult.

But the adults have no such excuse, and they are just as loony and immature as the children in this movement. They all look like this:

Apparently, this group has been around for a while, but they have decided to step things up because they have become desperate.

Of course, they are desperate. They are certifiably insane, although their insanity is fueled by the climate hysteria that the entire MSM and the elite are pushing at us. This is a propaganda campaign that has been in place for longer than COVID, and I suspect that the panic and the propaganda successes of the COVID regime have inspired more direct action on climate.

This was one of several demonstrations from members of Declare Emergency, who often block traffic in the region, resulting in arrests. Martin said he was among the protesters who blocked all lanes and both shoulders of Interstate 495’s inner loop at the U.S. 29/Colesville Road exit on the Fourth of July 2022.

The group plans to continue to disrupt traffic in the region to bring attention to this issue, Martin said.

“I know it sounds counterintuitive by blocking traffic but we’ve tried everything for decades,” Martin said. “We’re trying to build a mass movement of ordinary people who are waking up to the horrible truth that our world that we know it is over.”

The world as we know it is, of course, not over. And if it were these people’s actions would be pointless in any case. They are simply a Climate Heaven’s Gate.

What makes this worth paying attention to is that their underlying demand–that Biden declares a “Climate Emergency” is actually taken seriously at the higher levels of our government. Biden is reported to have seriously considered pulling a COVID-style emergency on climate, but obviously, he hasn’t pulled the trigger yet.

If you search the web for “Biden Climate Emergency” you will find a raft of stories from mid-2022 detailing the consideration that took place in the White House to declare a Climate Emergency, which would give the president the sort of extraordinary powers that were seized during the almost-expired COVID emergency.

Those weren’t exactly a net positive for Americans. Now imagine those powers directed at reworking our entire economy. Biden would be in a position to control vast portions of our economy with few checks on his power.

There is a lot of pressure from Leftists to go in this direction, and the activists on the ground are only the tip of a very large iceberg when it comes to support for the idea.

It’s obviously a terrible and ridiculous idea, but so were pretty much every policy implemented during COVID and see how that turned out.
