Rebeka Jones is one of Governor Ron DeSantis’ most quoted critics.
A hero on the Left, not despite but because of her ability to spew total lies in support of the priors that liberals want to be confirmed. She is an admitted criminal, a serial fabulist, and a popular fake martyr for the Left.
She is on another crusade against DeSantis, and as of now, the MSM is warily spreading her lies. I suspect that they will get the original story out there and then walk it back as it falls apart, but quietly. Repeat the lie loudly, and walk it back quietly.
Her claim? Ron DeSantis had her son kidnapped.
Rebekah Jones claimed that her son was kidnapped when in reality she turned him in because he threatened people. Anyone who continues to amplify her insane claims should be endlessly mocked as a brainless NPC. pic.twitter.com/lzkSjjsYtn

Jones’s thread is long, but you get the gist. Jones’ thread on Twitter was widely shared by liberals and progressives, gaining over 12.1 million views. She is already fundraising off this latest controversy.
If you want to help, make your voice heard wherever people will listen.
I don't have a fund going yet specifically for this, but my whistleblower fundraiser is up if that's how you feel you can help most. https://t.co/G4kADzdqw1

According to the Pensacola News Journal, her son was not “kidnapped” but rather Jones turned her son into the local sheriff’s office:
So what actually happened?
Well, it sounds like Rebekah’s son has some mental health problems, from which I hope he gets relief soon. He appears to suffer from depression and alienation, and he has been acting out.
More particularly he has been threatening to shoot up a school.
This is hardly “sharing memes.” It is a deadly serious threat.
The Pensacola News Journal seems to have the most complete story as of now, so I will rely on them. As you can see the real story seems a bit different from what Jones has been pushing on social media.
An incident report released Thursday afternoon by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office allege that the 13-year-old made repeated threats to shoot up Holley Navarre Middle School and to stab students who angered him.
Investigators interviewed multiple students who spoke with the teenager, as well as those who saw messages he posted on social media. In the messages to his friends, the teenager made the following statements, among others:
“I want to shoot up the school.”
If I get a gun I’m gonna shoot up hnms lol.”
“I’m getting a wrath and natural selection shirt so maybe but I don’t think many ppl know what the columbine shooters look like.”
“Okay so it’s been like 3-4 weeks since I got on my new antidepressants and they aren’t working but they’re suppose to by now so I have no hope in getting better so why not kill the losers at school.”
The teenager told one of his friends that he planned to shoot up the school the Thursday before Spring Break but there were too many things going on so he postponed it until March 31.
Jones was contacted by the police who had investigated the complaint–filed by fellow students–and Jones turned her son into the Sheriff’s office.
Then she announced her son had been kidnapped by the Governor.
Jones’s son appeared at a detention hearing where a judge determined that there was probable cause that a law had been violated and set a date for arraignment.
SRSO spokeswoman Jillian Durkin said Jones turned her son in to the Sheriff’s Office.
The teen appeared in a detention hearing via Zoom on Thursday afternoon where a judge determined there was probable cause in the case and scheduled an arraignment date for May 3.
The teen was placed on home detention release with a monitor. The judge also prohibited him from possessing any weapons or firearms, utilizing the internet for anything other than school purposes, and from having contact with anyone from the middle school.
Of course to many none of the actual facts matter. Ron DeSantis is Hitler’s reincarnation, and any evidence that this is the case is used to buttress that case. This has been the story of Rebekah Jones from the beginning, who sold herself as a whistleblower and rose to national prominence in the war against DeSantis, ran for Congress, and was subsequently exposed as a complete fraud.
A fraud to which she admitted in lieu of prosecution, for which she would have been convicted. She paid a fine, getting off easy. Hardly fascism. She should be in jail.
Jones is a former Florida data scientist who accused the Health Department of intentionally falsifying pandemic data on behalf of Gov. Ron DeSantis. The claims were rejected as unfounded by an inspector general’s report.

Clearly both Jones and her son are mentally ill and in desperate need of care. Yet because she has chosen Ron DeSantis as her target of hate she is given plenty of media coverage, lots of online love, and many, many donations for her crusade through crowdfunding. Hundreds of thousands have flowed to her for her cause through multiple GoFundMe campaigns.
I would call her nothing but a grifter, but I suspect that there is something much deeper going on here. I am no psychologist but she seems unhinged.
Still, that is no barrier to her becoming a hero to the Left. She picked the right target, and that is enough.
