All they have is blatant lies...and the press cooperates

Where are the fact-checkers? Where is the outrage regarding the blatant lies being told by the Left?

It’s not there. Just as the media now routinely refers to a Florida law that prohibits teaching gender ideology in public schools as “don’t say gay,” the Left is now claiming that a Kansas law that prohibits boys from playing in girls’ sports requires “genital inspections.”

This is, of course, an outright lie. Not even close to true.

But that doesn’t matter. It is getting repeated endlessly. And that, my friends, is what matters in the real world.

I read the bill. It doesn’t take much to do so. It is short and to the point, if written in legislationese. But even a layman can understand it, and not only does it not say anything about genital inspections, but there is also no reasonable way to interpret it as requiring genital inspection.

The people saying that know that this is the case. The people writing about it know that this is the case. But many of the people reading it likely do not, and many who do just shrug and move on.

This is how propaganda works. The misinformation-industrial complex not only isn’t up in arms about it but they secretly cheer it on.

The point is clear: demonize Republicans, move the Overton window (the range of acceptable opinions), and harshly punish anybody who objects to the project of the Left.

This tactic is used constantly. We keep on hearing about a transgender genocide, when in fact transgender people have one of the lowest violent crime victimization rates in the US. We keep on hearing about banning books when the fact is that we are only talking about keeping pornography out of schools, not out of bookstores. The vast majority of books in bookstores are NOT in school libraries. Does that mean the vast majority of books are banned?

Is Abigail Shrier prominent pushed on students in public schools? Surely not. Is she banned?

Drag shows? Not banned. Forced pregnancy? Not a thing. Don’t say gay? Ridiculous.

But it keeps getting repeated and becomes “true” in people’s minds. Even if they don’t quite buy the exaggerated claims, they worm their way into people’s minds and give the impression that Republicans are doing something weird.

Until 5 minutes ago nobody thought boys should play girls’ sports. Now if you object you clearly want to strip-search an 8-year-old. It is true because the Left says it is true. Period.

Shut up, bigot.

It would be laughable except it works. The constant repetition of calumnies works. Vast numbers of Americans believe that Donald Trump was selected by Putin and installed. The evidence clearly says otherwise, but years of repetition worked. And the New York Times and Washington Post got a Pulitzer Prize claiming it.

“Deeply reported.” Meaning it was completely invented out of whole cloth. Not a word of it was true.

Kansas S.B. 160 is easy enough to find and read. Nobody who has read it believes it requires genital inspections. Every child who is enrolled in school is already identified as a boy or a girl, and every athlete likely gets a physical exam by a doctor in order to ensure safety. There is no ambiguity, and no school officials staring at kids’ genitals.

It just isn’t true.

And that just doesn’t matter. Because, apparently, it works.
