Get a grip, Trumpworld

Alvin Bragg’s likely prosecution of Trump is worse than a joke. It is some Banana Republic BS.

Bragg goes out of his way to avoid prosecuting criminals who are destroying New York City’s quality of life, but he is laser-focused on prosecuting Donald Trump for a “crime” that the feds decided didn’t happen.

The sans culottes of the Left are screaming for Trump’s head, and Bragg wants to give it to them. That’s the long and short of it, and Trump has a right to be angry at Bragg.

He apparently isn’t, though. Trumpworld barely mentions Alvin Bragg at all, actually.

He’s angry at Ron DeSantis and has turned his fire on the governor instead of the prosecutor. I wonder why.

Clearly, Trump is scared of Governor DeSantis, far more than of some ridiculous ticky-tac charge a politically motivated prosecutor will throw at him.

Trump and Trumpworld are obsessed with the governor, and not the way most Republicans are. Most of us are happy with what the governor has been doing, and while there is disagreement about whether DeSantis is the best standard-bearer for the party in the next presidential election, no conservative I have met doesn’t think he has been an excellent governor of Florida.

Trumpworld, though, is obsessed with destroying the governor, because they fear Republicans will decide that he has a better shot at being the next President of the United States–and a good one too. They understandably want that prize for The Donald, and are willing to do anything to get it.

Anything.

Trump started attacking DeSantis even before the governor won his stunning 20-point victory last November. This means, of course, that Trump wanted to hurt DeSantis’ chances even to win the governor’s race. Since DeSantis’ victory, Trump has even praised Charlie Crist, DeSantis’ opponent in that race.

That’s pretty pathetic, honestly. Criticizing DeSantis while praising Charlie Crist, one of the slimiest politicians in America. Floridians seem to disagree with Trump’s bizarre judgment about the comparative worth of the two candidates.

Since then the hits keep on coming, although DeSantis doesn’t seem to mind a bit. He has more important things to do than spar with The Donald. Which seems to infuriate Trumpworld even more.

Everybody has heard the pathetic nicknames thrown at the governor. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. in recent weeks Trump surrogates have gone after DeSantis as a pedophilic groomer, a cross-dresser, and now they claim he is actually a closeted gay man.

Yeah, whatever.

But after all this crap their new attack is: Ron DeSantis isn’t doing enough to defend Donald Trump.

Yep, they are going with that. As if DeSantis’ job is to comment on non-events (was Trump arrested yesterday, as he predicted?) happening to a man who has spent the past 4 months attacking his character. Whatever.

The irony of all this, again, is that Trumpworld is barely firing at Alvin Bragg, the guy who may (or may not) bring an indictment against him. We still don’t even know if that will happen–it was TRUMP who started the rumor, and we know that his predicted arrest on Tuesday failed to appear.

As far as I can tell, Trump started this entire controversy in order to attack DeSantis. Full stop. He may or may not eventually get indicted, but he is the one who is picking the current fight. He created a false controversy–an arrest to take place yesterday–and has used that fake news to attack the governor.

Trump defenders are screaming to high heavens that this is about more than Trump and that DeSantis should be above politics.

Well, it turns out that the whole thing is a Trump fake controversy and all about politics. And, as usual, it is all about helping Donald Trump.
