Mendacity is their middle name: border edition

Everybody knows Joe Biden is a fabulist. Whenever he goes off script he tells a story that is as credible as Uncle Frank’s fish stories or the BS that wannabes spew while drowning their sorrows with cheap whiskey at a bar.

Those lies are pretty easy to make fun of, or to use as fodder for the argument that ol’ Uncle Joe has gone senile. But for the most part they are benign–perhaps even more so than Donald Trump’s penchant for hyperbole. Trump wove a good tale too to make his points, and while they were often characterized as lie they were more along the lines of fairy tales to make a point.

None of these lies, half-truths, or instances of braggadocio matter much in terms of presidential competence. Joe Biden is demonstrably incompetent, but his lies about Corn Pop or purple hearts tell us little about this fact. They just add to his air of ridiculousness and mental decline.

The media of course made a federal case out of every Trump exaggeration, while they humbly cover for Biden in almost every instance. Their obsession with Trump’s statements was legendary.

But the official lies come fast and furious, and actually matter a lot. And the Biden Administration is a virtual lie factory, and far more so than Trump’s White House ever was.

Every moment a Biden official opens his or her mouth nothing but lies spew out. Obvious lies; not-so-obvious lied; and lies that only amount to normal political spin.

But it is all lies. You are an idiot to trust anything they say.

The most obvious example of this has been the messaging of the Biden Administration on both the situation at the border and what they have been and plan to do about it.

Americans know that there is a crisis at the border. Even liberals understand that there is at least a humanitarian crisis, with far more migrants crossing than can be processed and taken care of by the federal government. Not that they will admit as much, but it is hard to believe that they are totally indifferent to the mass human suffering of the migrants who are being raped, murdered, and exploited by the cartels. Or the thousands forced to live under bridges. Or… you get the idea. Nobody can defend that, at least.

And for normal, rational people, it is obvious that adding 6 million or more undocumented immigrants to the US–2% of the US population–in just a few years is unsustainable. Millions of people with little education, no resources, no housing, and almost no English is a social disaster waiting to happen. Our society cannot absorb such a large number so quickly without consequences.

Yet the Biden Administration simply lies, insisting that it isn’t actually happening.

If this is not the border being open, what would be? 10 million a year? The Biden Administration has done nothing but encourage illegal aliens to stream across the border, even when they haven’t the resources to help them. They clearly plan to import as many non-citizens as possible in as short a time as possible, betting that they can juice the population of underground illegals by a huge number before the American people demand a stop to it.

I have to assume that this policy is linked to their efforts to lift all ballot security measures, but perhaps I am being paranoid. Probably not, though, as I have a hard time seeing any other political upside to the policy.

Jean-Pierre says the president has been “doing the work at the border,” hoping that most people interpret that as trying to staunch the flow of aliens. But the reality is that “doing the work” means keeping the border open, including pressuring or even trying to force border-state governors to keep the border open themselves. They use every propaganda and legal technique to stymie these governors’ efforts to secure their own borders, making it clear that the “work” is keeping the flow of illegals as strong as possible.

And their goal is clear: legalize the illegal aliens. “From day 1” that has been their goal.

Another indication of the Biden Administration’s unseriousness about closing the border was assigning the issue to Kamala Harris, the most famously incompetent politician in America. As she has cackled her way through the past two years she has consistently ignored everything border related. As far as I know there isn’t even a Venn diagram available on the issue. She has a Venn diagram for everything, so you know she is doing nothing. Jean-Pierre certainly has nothing to say about Harris’ efforts.

The media has tap danced around all this, utterly unwilling to call out the lies. They have started covering the issue a bit as even some Democrats directly impacted by the crisis have started to raise their voices, but they have completely let Biden off the hook. He is simply a passive victim of the problem, not its cause.

Worse, ABC’s Martha Raddatz implied that the cause of the migrant influx is Republicans complaining about how open the border is. That’s rich, since the border actually being open is the cause. Somehow Republicans are to blame for the result of Biden’s policies.

Kamala Harris is sounding the same theme:

Harris told NPR that the problem at the border stemmed from Republicans refusing to cooperate: “And sadly, what we have seen in particular, I am sad to say, from Republicans in Congress is an unwillingness to engage in any meaningful reform that could actually fix a lot of what we are witnessing.”

By “meaningful reform,” Harris means the removal of any remaining restrictions on entry into the United States, so that virtually anyone can come in at any time for any reason without any difficulty. That’s essentially the case already, but Harris, Biden, and their henchmen want this chaotic situation codified into law. “I think that there is so much that needs to happen to address the issue,” she said. “Reform of our immigration system can only happen through Congress in terms of the passage of an immigration bill that allows for a legal pathway to citizenship and a legal presence in the country.”

The media is more than fine with the Biden Administration mendacity, and even supplement it with their own. While they obsessed with Trump’s hyperbolic claims of crowd attendance and financial acumen, they have ignored Biden’s constant lies on matters of import.

I rarely get too excited about Biden’s ridiculous stories, which are themselves mere exaggerations and boasts along the lines of Clinton’s Bosnia “under fire” story. Those reveal a character flaw, but matter little beyond proving that Biden is a personal fraud.

But the policy lies? Those matter a lot. And the fact that the media covers them up matters a lot too.
