No, this is not a recommendation that came out in 2020. It is from…Tuesday. This Tuesday. In 2022.

At least it isn’t a mandate. At least not yet.

But will the madness never cease? Really? Have we really learned nothing?

Perhaps that is the wrong question.

No, it IS the wrong question, because none of the mandates and “suggestions” have had much to do with COVID anyway.

The mask mandates were never about protecting anybody’s health, but rather about forcing people to comply with absurdities.

The mandates got people used to both the idea of complying with ridiculous requirements imposed by bureaucrats and–this is important–directing a “2-minutes hate” at those who refused to be bullied into submission.

The Left needs us to be in a permanent state of near panic in order to push through their insane agenda. The pre-COVID the crisis du jour was Climate Change.

COVID kicked things up a notch because the threat was personal and imminent. Although as fear of COVID has waned you probably have noticed that climate change is back on the “must panic NOW” list. Twitter is filled with ridiculous tweets about how we are all about to die from both COVID and global weirding.

It is the panic they need, not any specific set of actions. The important thing is getting you to comply with their directives no matter the particular “crisis.”

The great thing about masks, as opposed to recycling (which does nothing because almost all of it other than aluminum goes into the dump), is that everybody knows you are compliant. They can literally see it on your face.

Social pressure can be maximized. The mask is a display of fealty, not a medical tool. Getting you to wear it is a victory for the Left.

For a century it was “settled science” that masks were useless when it comes to preventing the spread of airborne viruses. Perhaps any one instance of wearing a mask might reduce the chance of infection, but the number of vectors through which you can be infected is so ridiculously high that masking will inevitably fail. You will contract the virus.

Sorry, them’s the breaks. Even wearing N95s all the time won’t work. Sorry.

It will be interesting to see how many New Yorkers will comply with this “recommendation.” I suspect it will be relatively few, even in deep Blue NYC. If I am correct it will be an obvious indicator of the limits that exist for the people pushing the more radical policies being pushed by the transnational Elites, such as converting from meat eaters to bug eaters. I give that a 0% chance of happening in the short or medium term. Mask compliance? Fewer than a year ago, more than you would expect.

It may be…I hope it actually is…the case that the World Economic Forum/Davos agenda is running up against its limits. In other words, I hope it proves to be the case that you can only push people so far and no farther.

I fear that this is an optimistic take, though. I need to convince myself that the battle can be won, lest I just give up and move to rural Idaho and enjoy the view.

In my more morbid moments I remind myself of how far we have gone down the path of insanity. After all, Joe Biden signed his Marriage bill having invited drag queens to the ceremony. Drag queens at the White House. Who had that on their bingo cards?

So we have gone much further down this path than anybody could have predicted even 5 years ago. So my optimism may not be warranted.

The masking is a test of your willingness to accept absurd demands, nothing more. Don’t comply. They don’t work, and not doing so sends a message to the elite and to everybody who meekly follows their lead.
