Diplomacy is a drag

The US government sure knows how to conduct diplomacy. Winning friends and influencing people is something they mastered years ago, and they are putting their skills to work.

It is well known that Ecuadorians, who are predominately Catholic, have been dying to embrace American drag culture. Since their own government has not satisfied the vast market for men strutting around in lingerie seeking out children to corrupt, the US taxpayers are helping out the poor Ecuadorians by funding the expansion of drag culture into the country.

It’s about time.

How generous of us. This will surely earn us the eternal gratitude of the parents of Ecuador.

The U.S. Department of State has awarded more than $20,000 for a cultural center in Ecuador to host “drag theater performances” in the name of diversity and inclusion.

The State Department awarded a $20,600 grant on Sept. 23 to the Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano (CEN), a non-profit organization supported by the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador, to “promote diversity and inclusion” in the region.

The project at CEN, which started Sept. 30 and runs until Aug. 31, 2023, will include “3 workshops,” “12 drag theater performances,” and a “2-minute documentary,” according to the State Department’s grant listed on the USASpending.gov website.

Who would have thought that it would only cost $20,000 to provide so many drag theater performances to people? In the US that wouldn’t cover the bar tab for the 6 year-olds.
Perhaps that is because in Ecuador 1 out of 5 people live in poverty, with over 40% in the rural areas living in poverty. The dollar goes farther there, I guess.

This is part of a pattern the Biden Administration has developed. For two years in a row the American Embassy to the Vatican flew the LGBT flag during “Pride Month,” spitting in the eye of Catholics here and around the world. They of course refrained for doing so in most Muslim countries, although they did hold LGBT events in Afghanistan right before they abandoned the country. The Embassy famously flew the LGBT flag in Kabul in June of 2021.

The country fell to the Taliban in August of that year. At least Biden struck a blow for LGBT rights before the Taliban started hunting them down and killing them mercilessly in the subsequent months.
This is emblematic of the way the Left does things. It is about symbolically spitting in the eye of people whom they consider inferior to them morally. They fly their flags, fund their perverse displays, and flaunt their “values” as an expression of power. It improves nobody’s lives, even one little bit, but for the few people who get to pocket the dollars being thrown around.
All of this is performative in one way or another. Their supporters bathe in the glow of feeling good about themselves and being superior to the normies who object. They exalt in the expression of power they have over others. The rub the noses of the powerless in their own inability to fight back. And, of course, they get to pocket the cash extracted by the taxpayers who would rather have had the money themselves instead of paying for this crap.

For too long we have tolerated these profligate and damaging displays of arrogance. The issue isn’t the wasted money, as frustrating as this is. $20 grand is a tiny fraction of a penny per taxpayer. But that is not the point, either for them or for us.
What is the point is the pure contempt these people have for both the American taxpayer and for the people they are thumbing their noses at. Nobody in Ecuador will thank Americans for the generosity on display, because it isn’t remotely generous. It is a symbol of contempt for them and their culture. Just as flying the LGBTQ+++++ flag at the Vatican was expressing contempt for Catholics.
Everybody involved with these activities should be dismissed from their jobs and publicly humiliated. By name, preferably.
“That’s Joe Smith–he spent your money to fund drag queens in Ecuador. Don’t hire him.” Given the love of the Left for cancel culture, we should give them a taste of their own medicine.
