Jennifer Sey has a habit of sticking her neck out for worthy causes, and it has cost her dearly.
Sey, a former elite gymnast, blew the whistle on the sport's predators, a move that sparked considerable blowback. And she was right.
The former Levi's executive later got forced out of the company after decrying select COVID-19 protocols, especially those involving children.
Again, she was right.
Now, Sey is a driving force behind "Generation Covid," a new documentary recalling those extreme lockdown measures. The new documentary can be seen Nov. 13 via the SalemNow streaming service.
Director Andrew James recalls how pandemic restrictions dramatically damaged the lives of many children. Schools were shuttered while learning went virtual, and students got lost in the scholastic shuffle. School-based celebrations were cancelled. Graduations turned into farcical attempts to stay "safe" while gathering in restricted fashion.
That led to depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and suicide.
Sey was ahead of the curve in warning about the consequences. The media have begrudgingly reported on the damage done since then, but it's a subject with next to zero consequences and little follow-up. Sey won't forget what happened. And she wants to ensure the next pandemic doesn't repeat those mistakes.
There's always another Fauci-like figure lurking within government, eager to manipulate science to flex their power.
“These policies were written in conference rooms and justified with models, but the consequences were lived by real children,” Sey continues. “This film puts faces to those consequences. We owe it to these kids to remember what happened and to make sure that when the next crisis comes, we protect our children instead of asking them to bear the cost. We can’t forget what happened. We won’t,” Sey said in a press statement tied to the film's release.
Sey is a familiar name to anyone fighting on behalf of women's spaces. Her XX-XY Athletics brand battles against those allowing trans women to compete with biological women in sports. She's become the face of the movement, showing up at WNBA games to spread her message and, more often than not, getting attacked for doing so.
ONLY IN THE WNBA 🤦♂️ @JenniferSey recounts being harassed by Golden State Valkyries fans at Game 1 of the WNBA Finals... all because she wore a shirt defending women's sports. https://t.co/31iwmfbgGQ

The road to "Generation Covid" hasn't been easy. Sey began work on the mostly self-funded documentary in 2022 after her Levi's resignation. She assembled important voices to flesh out the narrative, including Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, the current director of the National Institutes of Health.
The media went to great lengths to promote "Musk," the documentary/hit piece on you-know-who. "Generation Covid" won't get a fraction of that media attention. The pandemic disaster's critical lessons are off-limits for most journalists. Nor will they hold public figures like Dr. Anthony Fauci responsible for their actions.
Sey and co. are speaking truth to power. Again.
