Ridiculous: Department of Homeland Security supports group that's protesting Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week

Lately it’s felt like Xavier Solana or some other shadowy international bureaucrat snuck in and stole our government. Solomonia puts us on the trail of a group called Pathways – Tufts Interfaith Initiative. They protested Daniel Pipes’ appearance last night at Tufts University as part of the Young America’s Foundation’s Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week and were signatories to a flier that denounced the event and called Pipes and everyone else involved in IFAW “bigots.” From an article in the Tufts Daily:

“I think that it’s very sad that we have people that are attacking an entire religion. … I’m here to say this is something that is objectionable and not useful,” said Hossam Aljabri, the president of the Boston Muslim American Society.

Still, all of the demonstrators supported Pipes’ right to speak.

“There is room for dialogue,” Aljabri said. “I am all for free speech.”

According to Shai Fuxman, a facilitator of Pathways, an interfaith initiative at Tufts, they were not there to protest, but to “demonstrate in a very peaceful and respectful manner.”

Fine, “demonstrate in a very peaceful and respectful manner” against a scholar (whom you called a bigot) who is trying to wake you up to reality.

Or…Pathways might already be aware of the reality.

In any case, the Department of Homeland Security is funding an interfaith group that’s out opposing a man who wants to foster moderate Islam and thereby fight terrorists…why?
