This is beautiful on so many levels.
First, on the face of it, you’ve got to love the moment when Charlie Crist (
R wait, I no, D yeah, that’s it, D) is engaged in a debate while running for the 13th congressional seat in Florida and he is asked if he will vote for his party’s candidate for president, Hillary Clinton.
Here’s his response and the audience reaction: (Daily Caller)
“I am proud of Hillary Clinton. I think she’s been a very good secretary of state, a very good senator from the state of New York. The thing I like most about her is I believe she is steady, I believe that she is strong, I believe that she is honest, and I look forward to voting for her.”
On the phrase “I believe she is honest” the debate audience does what any normal gathering of intelligent, informed Americans would do. They burst into derisive laughter, of course. It’s a wonderful moment.
It’s even more wonderful considering Crist is the secondary target of the crowd’s derision.
Crist, the former Republican Governor of Florida who left his party in a hissy fit because voters had the audacity to choose Marco Rubio as their nominee for US Senate rather than he, has turned into a particularly loathsome political character, slithering from the GOP to Independent to Democrat.
It’s even more fun to watch Crist contort himself into celebrating the integrity and honesty of the Clinton dynasty considering when he was running for Senate in 1998 (good Lord does this man run for office every 2 years or something?) he called on Bill Clinton to resign. As Breitbart reminds us, he said at the time that Clinton’s affair and cover-up had “shattered the confidence and trust of the American people.”
Of course, the “honest” Hillary Clinton was part of the cover-up of the affair and the character assassination of Ms. Lewinsky back then, but now, according to Crist, she is honest.
They both deserve the derisive laughter their clown show received.
