AOC rips Ivanka for doing her job, attending G-20 meetings

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t pleased that Ivanka Trump went to the G-20 summit in Japan, or that she went on to South Korea with President Trump’s entourage of advisers and cabinet members. Maybe AOC forgot that Ivanka Trump is a presidential adviser.

A BBC reporter tweeted out a video of Ivanka speaking with, among others, French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Sandy from the Bronx and Brooklyn was triggered by that and tweeted her response. It all went downhill from there.

How dare she join in a conversation. All of those world leaders in that group of people are people Ivanka Trump has worked with and spoken to before this year’s G-20 meeting. She is an adviser to President Trump (unpaid, I might add), as is her husband Jared Kushner (also working for free) who was also at the summit yet AOC didn’t bother to criticize him. Was her Twitter rant just a mean girls kind of move?

During the global event in Osaka, Japan, Ivanka Trump represented the U.S. in meetings with leaders from China, Japan, Russia, India and Australia, the South China Morning Post reported.

She also led the U.S. delegation in a special discussion on women’s economic empowerment.

Before traveling to Asia, Ivanka Trump noted that the U.S. was the only country planning to bring an entirely female negotiating team to G-20.

Instead of noting the fact that the Trump administration was bringing an all-female negotiating team, as would have happened if Hillary Clinton was president, she implies Ivanka isn’t up to the task of diplomacy. Ivanka works for a Republican president so she must be dehumanized by the women on the left. Third wave (or is it fourth wave?) feminism is the worst, y’all.

Besides all that, Ivanka Trump may not be your cup of tea but she did what presidential advisers do. She went on a trip and interacted with others at a summit. She was an executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, CEO of her own fashion line, and has worked on initiatives to empower women in America and abroad. None of this is breaking news. She’s well-educated and others respond well to her. She sounds like a good diplomat to me.

Maybe AOC isn’t aware of how diplomats are traditionally chosen. Some are chosen because of life experience or a particular expertise about a country but most are appointed for being big donors to the president. It’s like a big thank-you gift to campaign contributors and bundlers. Remember Caroline Kennedy? Barack Obama gave her the ambassadorship to Japan. She sure didn’t garner favorable coverage despite her political pedigree.

The point can be made that nepotism isn’t necessarily a good thing in politics or the business world, but it’s ridiculous to act as though Ivanka Trump is the first person to be a part of the system. She has her supporters and two that are well-known have already spoken up on Ivanka’s behalf. Sunday Piers Morgan weighed in and referred to Ivanka as his intelligent friend. He questioned AOC’s audacity given her own resume. AOC took that as an opportunity to defend bartenders or something.

Let’s be honest. Ivanka Trump gets this kind of criticism because of her last name. If it was Chelsea Clinton working as an adviser to her mother, if Hillary had won the election, think of all the slobbering press stories we’d be subjected to about how wonderful it is to have a mother -daughter team in the White House. Who among us thinks a Clinton would work without pay, by the way? Chelsea was put in charge of the Clinton Foundation and the AOCs of the world are cool with that.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders weighed in. She pointed to the absurdity of accusing President Trump of “phoning it in” diplomacy. It’s hard to keep up with the left’s narrative. Is President Trump too aggressive in the world or is he lazily phoning it in?

Sanders, who just recently stepped down from her role at the White House, said “phone it in @AOC is wasting your time on Twitter while destroying jobs in NY.” She said President Trump and Ivanka have created “millions of new jobs and continue to make the US stronger on the global stage but thank you for reminding Americans everyday why they elected Trump.”

AOC is entwined in her own problems due to hiring her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, to work for her. Investigations are underway for money Roberts received from a PAC during AOC’s campaign.

The Federal Election Commission recently told the PAC, Justice Democrats, that it has opened an investigation into the allegation as well as other claims, Independent Journal Review reported.

That same month, Ocasio-Cortez faced ethics questions after reports that Roberts had received a congressional email account. Then more allegations followed.

AOC should just take a seat, especially while her own hypocracisy is being pointed out. Pot meet kettle, Sandy.
