I stumbled upon an interesting little article in The Palm Beach Post. It was an interview with Frank Biden, younger brother of Joe, who admitted that some of the Biden family members didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016 but for Donald Trump. What? It turns out the Finnegans of Pennsylvania felt slighted by Hillary and her campaign so they voted for her opponent.
“We never would have lost Pennsylvania, and all my relatives — the Finnegan family — who voted for Donald Trump because they felt slighted by Hillary and her campaign. We never would have not gone to Michigan as the campaign decided not to do because they felt entitled to the votes of those people. Assumptive politics is losing politics. You have to work for every single vote and people have to know individually, collectively and severally that you care about them, that they’re important.”
“The idea of declaring a whole swath of people ‘deplorables’ is just the most idiotic political calculation, number one, and two, the most — in the Catholic Church, they would call that the sin of pride. Who in God’s name am I to say that you have a fundamentally wrong moral position? Talk about lacking humility.”
Ah oh. I hope Senator Dianne Feinstein doesn’t read the part of his quote where he references his Catholicism. Next thing we know she’ll be saying “the dogma lives loudly” within the Biden family. Oops. I forgot. Democrats only feel emboldened to rip Republican nominees on their religious beliefs, especially a conservative woman potentially up for a judicial nomination.
Frank Biden says the family thought, as most regular Americans did at the time, that Hillary was running on her own sense of entitlement for the job of president. He points out the fact that the Finnegans of Pennsylvania felt slighted, or ignored, by Hillary and her campaign and so did other traditionally Democratic voters in the state. He includes Michigan as he spoke about Hillary not putting in the work of visiting the states needed to win because she simply took the votes there for granted. Ole Frank is not wrong. It’s also why she never even bothered to set foot in Wisconsin.
And what about Joe Biden’s intentions in the Democrat primary for the 2020 presidential race, Frank? Will he decide to take the plunge and run for the third time for the highest office in the land? Yes. Yes, Frank thinks his big brother Joe will go for it. He thinks Joe can win back the states Hillary lost to Trump.
Frank Biden says his brother, a six-term U.S. senator before his eight years as vice president, is the Democrat in the best position to win the White House. At a time when many leading Democrats are pushing the party to the left, Frank Biden emphasized his brother’s experience and appeal to voters the party lost to Trump.
“The decision the party has to make is almost an existential one … Are we going to go with someone that everyone implicitly trusts, has confidence in, and no one doubts Joe’s ability to do the job?” Frank Biden said.
“Who do you think that the disaffected Republicans and the disaffected Democrats that we need to win over to win Pennsylvania, to win Michigan, to win Wisconsin, to win Ohio, to win Florida — as a strictly Machiavellian question, who is best positioned to win those folks back?”
And, don’t worry about Biden’s age, either, because his brother Frank is an exercise enthusiast who advises Joe on workouts. He claims Joe’s in great shape, unlike the current occupant in the Oval Office.
“I laugh, I mean, the most laughable thing to me because I’m an exercise nut, and I look at this president, who is obese and probably couldn’t walk 18 holes of golf, is compared to Joe in some way, shape or form,” Frank Biden said. “Joe works out four days a week. He’s in better shape than he was when he was 65.”
That’s kind of an odd age to be comparing Joe Biden’s physical shape with, is it not? 65? Well, I guess when someone is well into his 70’s and wants to be thought of as fit and ready to go, 65 is a younger number to reference. Here’s the thing, though. No one is going to think that Joe Biden would have physical limitations holding him back from keeping up with the physical demands of the presidency. Hillary had to be picked up and tossed into the back of a van – captured in a video – and her supporters still thought she was the one for the job. With Joe Biden this time around, the question will be if he can capture the imagination and support of the growing wave of young socialists on the left. Frank admits that he (Frank) finds the trend one that he can’t relate to because he describes himself as more moderate in political beliefs. Frank referenced Bernie Sanders in his dig at the socialist wing of the party. He didn’t, however, bring up the most popular socialist currently in every news cycle – Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He cleverly doesn’t want to rile up her true believers so early in the game.
Joe Biden has coyly hinted lately that he is really the only one on the horizon that has the experience to run against President Trump. If you are a political junkie, this is a match-up made in Heaven. What would be more entertaining than the two of them out on the campaign trail fighting each other for the presidency? Trump loves to take off the gloves and the truth is, despite his kindly Uncle Joe reputation, Biden loves it, too. Plus, Biden is just as gaffe-prone as Trump can be, only in an even creepier way. Joe Biden has a bad habit of grabbing women and girls in cringe-worthy ways. It’s like he isn’t really a pervert but he comes off that way. He’s creepy Uncle Joe.
Joe told Axios that he’s running and named January 15 as a date he may, or may not, announce his decision to do so. We’ll know soon enough. Joe’s an experienced candidate and has thought of himself as a potential president before, having run two times, but he’s not a candidate that catches on with voters. Besides the pervy grabbiness, he even had to drop out of one primary season due to plagiarism. He is always at the bottom of the list of votes garnered in primaries. I don’t think Democrats are clamoring for an old white man, a career politician, this time around. We’ll see if the third time is the charm.
