Corey Feldman's sexual assault claim being investigated by LAPD

Corey Feldman has finally gone to the police and named people who sexually abused him as a child. USA Today reports the LAPD has now confirmed an investigation is underway:

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating actor Corey Feldman’s claims about a long-running Hollywood pedophilia ring.

Officer Tony Im, a media spokesman for the LAPD, confirmed to USA TODAY that an investigation into Feldman’s longstanding claims has been opened.

That confirms what Feldman tweeted about Monday:

When Corey Feldman launched his Indiegogo campaign to raise $10 million dollars with the intent of making a feature film about the abuse he experienced as a child, I was a little skeptical. Not of Feldman, who has been pretty consistent about his story for decades, but about his plan. I thought he should go to the police and let them investigate while he’s planning to make his movie.

When Feldman appeared on the Today show a few days later, he said he wouldn’t necessarily wait until the film was completed to name his abusers. He might do it once he knew his family was safe. Now he’s taken the next step and it seems like a healthy one, even if it’s likely the statute of limitations on the crime is long-expired.

Today, Feldman posted a very long update on his plans for the film, disputing the claims that this is some kind of “con” and arguing that he’s the person who can best tell this story:

I’m a film maker, that is my art, my talent, my strength, & my profession. I want to truly show people what a child experiences when living with abuse from the perspective only someone who has lived with that abuse can make. It is a very important commentary and a brave piece of film making, as there is no one else who can truly capture the essence, of what the experience, of an abused child, who is famous, goes through, in the way that I can.

Feldman once again says his security and that of his family is still a major concern. He doesn’t name names here but other outlets are speculating he may be talking about Charlie Sheen. As Ed noted earlier, Sheen has been named as the person who sexually assaulted Feldman’s friend Corey Haim when Haim was just 13-years-old:

Then finally we can discuss the security element. When I say I need protection, I’m not being paranoid, or acting delusional. In fact my concerns are quite valid. Point in case…. After all after all the stories I’ve heard, including the recent release of information that Weinstein hired private spies to prevent this information from becoming public, there has never been a report that he actually threatened many of his accusers with murder.

Well let me be very clear. The man at the end of this bread crumb trail, the coveted name A lister everybody wants to know about has, & does continue to threaten his victims with death. It’s actually his go to statement. Anyone that knows who I am talking about can find multiple court records in which defendants have claimed that they feared for their safety after confronting him. Point blank, he threatens people’s lives and has a history of violent behavior.

Again, it’s not clear who he’s describing but, based on public reports like this, it certainly could be Sheen.
