Palin: Cruz made a career-ending mistake

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin gave an exclusive statement to Breitbart News Wednesday in which she called Ted Cruz’s decision not to endorse Donald Trump a “career-ending” moment.

Linking to a video of Cruz’s former running-mate Carly Fiorina falling off a stage Palin wrote that Fiorina, “had a more graceful exit from the political stage than [Cruz] had.” “Cruz’s broken pledge to support the will of the people tonight was one of those career-ending ‘read my lips’ moments,” Palin wrote. “I guarantee American voters took notice and felt more unsettling confirmation as to why we don’t much like typical politicians because they campaign one way, but act out another way,” she added.

“It’s commonplace for politicians to disbelieve their word is their bond, as evidenced by Cruz breaking his promise to endorse his party’s nominee, evidently thinking whilst on the convention stage, ‘At this point, what difference does it make?'” That was an obvious reference to Hillary Clinton’s infamous congressional testimony about Benghazi.

“We’ve been burned so horribly by that attitude that voters won’t reward politicians pulling that ‘what difference does it make’ stunt again. Politicians will see — it makes all the difference in the world to us,” Palin concluded.

No doubt Cruz has become persona non grata with Trump’s supporters but will this be a career-ending moment for him? If you haven’t watched Cruz’s explanation for his refusal to endorse Trump, it’s worth watching. Cruz seems genuinely angry about the attacks on his wife and father and why shouldn’t he be? Those attacks were exactly the kind of thing that drove a lot of people on the right nuts back when the left was attacking Sarah Palin’s family on a regular basis.

Remember back in 2009 when David Letterman made a joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter getting “knocked up” during a baseball game? Letterman apparently thought he was making a joke about an 18-year-old but in fact the daughter who attended the baseball game was 14-year-old Willow Palin. Sarah Palin was outraged by that and rightly so. Cruz is saying the attacks on his wife and father similarly crossed a line.
