All male college to admit transgender men. Wait... what?

Here’s an interesting tidbit from the transgender news front. While most colleges and universities across the United States have already jumped on the genderbending train, a few have been slower to institute the types of changes demanded by the social justice warriors. One of these exceptions was Morehouse College, the single male-only (?!) historically black college in the country. But in 2020 they will be taking the first steps in that direction. The school just announced that they will be allowing “transgender men” to enroll. (Associated Press)

The country’s only all-male historically black college will begin admitting transgender men next year, marking a major shift for the school at a time when higher education institutions around the nation are adopting more welcoming policies toward LGBT students.

Leaders of Morehouse College told The Associated Press that its board of trustees approved the policy on Saturday.

Transgender men will be allowed to enroll in the school for the first time in 2020…

Morehouse officials hailed the move as an important step toward a more inclusive campus while affirming its mission to educate and develop men.

First of all, I didn’t realize we still had any all-male schools left in the country after the gender wars of the past several decades. It turns out we have three, or possibly four. In addition to Morehouse College, there are Wabash College in Indiana and Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. St. John’s University in Minnesota is also male only, but they share a co-ed program with the College of St. Benedict where ladies attend.

So in order to get into Morehouse, you not only need to be African-American but male. That doesn’t sound very “inclusive,” does it? And even with the upcoming change, it’s not going to be completely integrated along these lines. The new policy will only apply to students who are born female but “identify” as male. If you you’re a boy who identifies as a girl you still won’t be admitted even though you have all of the correct reproductive equipment. And “cisgender” (ugh) females still need not apply.

One has to wonder how Morehouse gets away with this given the current social justice climate. If they’re not letting in the men who identify as women, where are all the protests? Where are the demands for the Dean and the faculty to be fired for failing to toe the intersectionality line? Are they just getting a pass for “some other reason?”

There are still quite a few women’s colleges in the United States today. Personally, I have no problem with that at all. But if you’re going to demand that everyone play by the same rules, why are we still carving out exceptions? The inconsistencies in the social justice movement continue to pile up, but few seem to want to hold them accountable.
