Just wanted to toss this one out there because so many people were having fun with it on social media last night. As you’ll recall, we’ve been assured by everyone from Hillary Clinton’s staff to Jill Stein and everyone in the left side media that nobody is trying to overturn the election. (An assertion which is already taking on water.) That might be true when it comes to actual members of the DNC, but their high profile supporters don’t seem to have gotten the message. A new video showed up yesterday featuring a gaggle of liberal Hollywood personalities with a “special message” for the Republican electors who are scheduled to certify the election this month. I’m sure you can guess where this is going.
Wow. After Martin Sheen makes it clear that the only electors he is speaking to are the Republicans who will vote for Trump, the gang of stars goes into a broken rotation of repeating phrases about duty, honor, the Founders, the Federalist Papers and everything else near and dear to a conservative’s heart. Then they begin the big pitch.
There are 538 members of the Electoral College. You, and just 36 other conscientious Republican electors could make a difference by voting your conscience on December 19th and thereby shaping the future of our nation.
Note the underlying and rather insulting assumption here. “By voting your conscience.” In other words, if you do what you are charged to do and complete the election process as required, you are going against your conscience. See.. you know it’s wrong to do this.
Then comes the sugar designed to make the medicine go down a little easier. We next hear no less than three versions of the following statement.
I’m not asking you to vote for Hillary Clinton.
Heaven forbid! Good Lord, no! We’d never ask you to vote for Hillary Clinton. We know you couldn’t do that. And let’s be honest, we really didn’t like her all that much ourselves despite all that stuff we said at her rallies. We get it, brother! But you can vote for somebody else… anybody else.
We are then informed of their true goal. Throw the election to the House of Representatives and allow them to select a qualified candidate. One star after another says, “I stand with you.” This is followed by another group repeating in robotic fashion, “You have my respect.”
Really? Your respect? Where was all of that respect for Republicans during the campaign? Here’s a partial list of all of the celebrities who took part in the making of this masterpiece: Martin Sheen, Debra Messing, James Cromwell, BD Wong, Noah Wyle, Freda Payne, Bob Odenkirk, J. Smith Cameron, Michael Urie, Moby, Mike Farrell, Loretta Swit, Richard Schiff, Christine Lahti, Steven Pasquale, Dominic Fumusa, Emily Tyra, and Talia Balsam.
Let’s be honest here for a moment, folks. This is a group of limousine liberals with private jets who wouldn’t spit on the head of a GOP elector if their hair was on fire before their candidate lost. But now they want to convince these electors that they will be well respected “American heroes” if they overturn the election and toss it to the House.
Pull the other one, Martin. It’s got bells on it.
