This story really has it all. A guy who shot two corrections officers in the head and neck. (Serious, but thankfully both survived.) The gang rape of two children. Illegal immigration comes into it as well of course. And as you’ll see below, this one all lands in the lap of the State Department rather than ICE.

The subject of the story is one Thong Vang, currently cooling his heels in Fresno, California. And this guy is a real beaut. (ABC local news)

The suspect in the shooting of two Fresno County correctional officers was involved in one of Fresno’s most notorious crimes.

Thong Vang faces two counts of attempted murder along with other charges in Saturdays shooting. Vang was one of more than a dozen men arrested in connection with the abduction rape of three teenage Clovis girls in 1998.

He was sentenced to 19 years in prison and served 16 years and was released two years ago. He’s being held in the jail on two counts of attempted murder and other charges.

In addition to the attempted murder charges, Vang is charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun and attempting to smuggle drugs into a jail. He also has a parole violation hold, and a hold from the immigration and naturalization service.

Unlike some other cases we’ve covered here, this one isn’t about sanctuary city policies. (Thank the Lord for small favors.) We actually tried to deport this cretin, but he’s from Laos and they simply refused to take him back. (Fox News)

“When Laotian officials failed to respond to that request, ICE released Mr. Vang in December, 2014 due to the Supreme Court’s ruling in Zadvydas v. Davis,” ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said. The ruling Kice cited held that immigrants under order of deportation but whom no other country will accept may not be held indefinitely, absent special circumstances. Last year, 3,735 illegal immigrant criminals from Laos were ordered deported but instead freed when the country refused to cooperate.

There’s a catch to this part of the story, though. Federal law requires that the State Department clamp down on visas for residents of countries who refuse to take their criminal illegal aliens back. That hasn’t been done, however. The State Department has refused to enforce that portion of the law and it’s led to this problem cropping up not only with Laos, but Mexico and Cuba as well, just to name a few. Nothing was done under Hillary Clinton and nothing was done under John Kerry. We’re still issuing visas for Laos and they’re still refusing to take back their criminals. This is a violation of the law and it’s also apparently the status quo at the State Department.

Oh, and just in case some of you were disappointed that this story wasn’t about another illegal alien who had been deported, we’ve got one of those too. And this guy was convicted of not only multiple rapes, but setting his victims on fire. His latest escapades came after we already deported him to Mexico… five times. (Fox News)

In August, Coria-Gonzalez was arrested after a woman told police he tried to set her on fire. While investigating, officers realized he had sexually assaulted several women in a secluded area off Ferguson Lane.

But no… we don’t have an immigration and border control problem. Nothing to see here. Move along.
