Politinerds: Elise Stefanik (R - NY21)

PolitinerdsHotAir

Our guest this week on Politinerds is Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York’s 21st congressional district. Her primary claim to fame from last year was when she became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress at the age of 30. But even before that she had worked as a policy wonk with some very interesting folks (which we get into) and even played a role in the Romney – Ryan campaign in 2012. We ask her about what it took for a woman still in her twenties to launch a congressional campaign, beat an experienced campaigner from her own party in the primary and then knock out a well funded Democrat in the general election.

She shares some of her early experiences upon arriving on the Hill, as well as the committee work she’s been doing since then. Then we get off in the weeds a bit as she shares her thoughts on the upheavel in the Speaker race, as well as how to get more millennials involved in politics, not just voting, but entering public service themselves.

Remember, the show is now available on iTunes so you can catch up with us as soon as new episodes air. And for you non-iTunes users, there’s still the archive of all our previous shows.
