Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

You’re going to be seeing guest hosts for several of the Sunday shows today as the big salary talent takes off the holiday weekend, which may or may not represent an improvement for some of them. Primarily they’ll be trotting out all of the presidential candidates with most of them no doubt being asked to throw Donald Trump under a gold plated bus. “This Week” will feature Rick Perry, who will explain how he plans to get out of low single digits in the polls. They’ll also have Tom Cotton, Ben Cardin, Tom Cole and Joaquin Castro. “Meet the Press” only lists one confirmed guest in addition to their panel, but it’s Ted Cruz so that may be worth a look.

“Face the Nation” has Rick Santorum as the featured interview, along with Bob Corker and Amy Klobuchar. On “State of the Union” Jake Tapper has two guests lined up… Bernie Sanders and Mike Huckabee. He’s going for maximum contrast, obviously, but we’ll see how well Jake does in pretending to take Sanders seriously as a contender. “Fox News Sunday” is featuring Chris Christie who will be picked at for his many shortcomings in an effort to see if he’ll blow his top (probably not) followed by two non-candidate interviews. Kelly Shackelford of Liberty Institute will have a segment along with Evan Wolfson of Freedom to Marry, just in case you still haven’t had enough of the gay wedding festival.

The full lineup is available here.
