Politinerds: House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy

PolitinerdsHotAir

On this week’s edition, we’re joined by the House Majority Leader, Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif). He’s a busy guy these days, what with the lower chamber actually passing some legislation for a change, so we’re grateful that he took the time to speak with us. McCarthy goes over some of his background, growing up in Bakersfield, California, being the first Republican in his family and and living on the left coast. Find out how he wound up with a winning lottery ticket at the age of 19 and had to make a decision as to whether or not he should head for Tijuana. We also discuss the fact that the congressman is the least tenured Majority Leader in the history of the House and what his rapid rise to party power on the national level has been like.

We spend some time talking about the drought in California, why it’s nothing to do with global warming and why the Governor should have seen this coming a mile away.
