Some tragic news comes to us out of Texas this weekend. Chris Kyle, the most prolific and successful sniper in the history of US special forces, was murdered along with another individual in Texas. The Navy Seal was 39 years old.

A man is under arrest in connection with the killing of two men at an Erath County, Texas, gun range, police said.

One of the victims is reportedly former Navy SEAL and best-selling author Chris Kyle…

The suspect, identified as Eddie Routh, 25, was arrested in Lancaster, Texas, after a brief police chase, a Lancaster Police Department dispatcher told ABC News.

Routh was driving Kyle’s truck at the time of his arrest and was held awaiting transfer to Texas Rangers, according to police.

Routh is described as “a former Marine suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome.”

Kyle’s record, detailed at the link above, is nothing short of incredible. In addition to his record setting, 150+ confirmed kills, he was recognized with 2 Silver Stars, 5 Bronze Stars with Valor, 2 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and more. He went on to literally “write the book” for the military training for snipers. Upon completion of his service, Kyle dedicated his time to helping other returning, wounded warriors.

His book, “American Sniper” is also a must read if you happened to miss it. It’s been out since 2012, so you can probably pick up a copy at a discount these days. This is a terrible loss and a sad day. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kyle’s family and friends, along with those of the other victim in this attack, who has not yet been named.
UPDATE: (Jazz) Thanks to our alert readers:

The second victim was identified early Sunday morning as 35-year-old Chad Littlefield of Midlothian.

Our condolences to the Littlefield family as well.
