The man always said he would bring Americans together — and so he has, my friends:

That data is culled from the massive NYT/CBS/YouGov nationwide survey of more than 100,000 total respondents.  O is right-side up in just six states (Delaware is a tie). Congratulations, California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont!  Of those six, the president scores highest in Maryland, a state packed to the gills with government workers, African-Americans and liberals with post doctorate degrees, proving once again that IQ and academic credentials are not reliable proxies for wisdom.  The good news is that Barack Obama’s weakness, ineptitude and ideological overreach has become so undeniable that majorities in 43 of our 50 states now disapprove of his job performance.  The bad news is that the remaining seven states represent 115 electoral votes, or approximately 43 percent of the total needed to be elected president.  That’s Democrats’ floor, guys.  As striking as the breadth of Obama’s unpopularity is, the man himself doesn’t blame his tire fire of an administration for the hideous numbers.  That would be other people’s fault, natch:

President Obama took another stab at the media on Tuesday, blaming it for spreading negativity and focusing too much on “phony scandals” rather than on the progress of the United States. Speaking at the Democratic National Committee in New York City on Tuesday, Obama argued that the press was counteracting his mission and spreading “cynicism” … “The issues I’m fighting for, the issues that I will continue to fight for even after I leave this office, those issues are at stake,” he said. “And we’ve got to be willing to fight for them. We’ve got to feel a sense of urgency about this at a time when, frankly, the press and Washington, all it does is feed cynicism.”

Yep, the infamously anti-Obama media, “phony scandals” and Washington’s cynicism are the true culprits here.  Pitch perfect, champ.  Never change.  I’ll leave you with the greatest distillation of epistemic closure I’ve seen in years.  Take another gander at the chart above, then enjoy:
