This can’t be good news for Democrats. ACORN, the community-activist group that regularly runs voter registration drives to bolster Democratic candidates for election at all levels, has been bankrupted after a series of videos caught a number of offices attempting to help undercover journalists posing as a pimp and prostitute. Funding and donations has “dried up,” the Associated Press reports, as a result of the revealing look inside the once-mighty organization:
Give James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles, Andrew Breitbart, and Big Government a big round of applause for their work on those tapes. They even had Clark Hoyt of the New York Times defending their actions two days ago. Those tapes did what years of complaints about voter-registration fraud at ACORN offices couldn’t, which was to expose the everyday corruption taking place at ACORN offices around the nation.
Don’t get too complacent. While ACORN closes its doors, the same people will undoubtedly reorganize under a new banner and return to the same practices. For now, though, ACORN will suddenly be absent from an election cycle for the first time in many years — and Democrats will have lost some valuable generalship for foot soldiers just when they needed it the most.
