We’re three days away from a national midterm in which the outcome is very much in doubt. Guess what the lead story on the Sunday shows is. For Team Red it’ll be RNC chair Ronna (Romney) McDaniel making the closing argument on “This Week” and “State of the Union.” Her task is simple: Just hold up a copy of the latest jobs report and point. For Team Blue it’ll be DNC chief Tom Perez, who’ll follow McDaniel on “SOTU,” and DSCC chair Chris Van Hollen, who’ll follow her on “This Week.” Expect plenty of chitchat about “fearmongering” and how illegal immigrants are just friends we haven’t met yet.

Meanwhile, two rising stars from the class of candidates are on tap for “Meet the Press.” Republican Senate nominee Josh Hawley will drop by to note how strange it is that a red state like Missouri has been represented by a Democrat for the past 12 years and that maybe it’s time to do something about that. Whereas Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams will note that Georgia is less red than it used to be (Trump won it by just five points in 2016) and that maybe it’s time for the state’s leadership to reflect that. With Hawley facing an incumbent but running in a conservative state and Abrams facing a red majority but surfing a blue national climate, each is involved in a toss-up race and probably has about an equal chance of pulling an upset on Tuesday.

If none of that grabs you, Mike Pompeo will stop by “Face the Nation” and “Fox News Sunday” to repeat his call for a ceasefire in the war in Yemen and to dodge questions about how our relationship with Saudi Arabia is unlikely to change much no matter what. The full line-up is at the AP.
