He hasn’t been fired yet, but being escorted from your place of business usually isn’t a prelude to a promotion, let’s say.
Let’s face it. All he’d need to do to get back in Trump’s good graces is find Obama’s “real” birth certificate.
FBI agent Peter Strzok was escorted from the FBI building Friday as part of the ongoing internal proceedings at the bureau on his conduct, according to a source familiar with the matter…
Strzok’s attorney, Aitan Goelman, said his client “remains a proud FBI agent who wants to continue working to keep the American people safe.”
“Pete has steadfastly played by the rules and respected the process, and yet he continues to be the target of unfounded personal attacks, political games and inappropriate information leaks,” Goelman said in a statement. “All of this seriously calls into question the impartiality of the disciplinary process, which now appears tainted by political influence.”
Peter Strzok’s attorney is complaining about … political bias influencing an investigation?
They’re either going to fire him or Strzok will resign “voluntarily.” Any other outcome is unthinkable at this point. Unless he’s punching the clock for pension reasons, I’m not sure why he’d want to continue. He’s been stuck working in the human resources department since Mueller booted him off the Russiagate probe last year. Absent any financial incentive to remain on the payroll, the only reason to keep going is because he thinks quitting under pressure would amount to admitting that he’d behaved improperly in his investigations. He’s just not going to concede that. That’s why he wants to testify before Congress.
Congress (well, the Republican half of Congress) is eager for him to do it too. Watch Rep. Andy Biggs tell Fox News that they want Strzok in front of them — subpoenaed, ideally, just to make sure he’s under oath. That’d be useful for prosecuting Strzok later just in case he testifies to a fact that’s contradicted by the eventual IG report on Russiagate.
