Sunday morning talking heads

In a week dominated by political warfare over Russia’s hacking exploits, who better to have on the Sunday shows than one of Putin’s targets? Clinton flunky John Podesta will be on “Meet the Press” this morning to blame the Kremlin for Hillary’s election loss (dubious) and to demand that the electoral college receive an intel briefing (highly dubious) before it votes tomorrow. If you’d rather hear from an actual elector, the shows have that covered too: Clay Pell, a member of the electoral college from Rhode Island who agrees with Podesta that the body should be briefed on Russia’s campaign machinations, will be on “Fox News Sunday.”

Elsewhere, there’ll be tea leaves aplenty about Rex Tillerson’s nomination for Secretary of State. Bob Gates, whose consulting firm has Exxon as a client, will be on “Meet the Press” to make the case for Tillerson. He’ll be followed on that show by Joe Manchin, widely seen as the Democrat most likely to vote with Trump and the GOP over the next four years. His vote for Tillerson could be crucial in getting the 50 needed to put Mike Pence in a position to cast the tiebreaker for confirmation. Meanwhile, Russia hawk John McCain, who’s expressed “concern” about Tillerson’s chumminess with Putin, will be on “State of the Union” to discuss whether his concern has lessened any now that he knows Gates, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, and other GOP natsec graybeards are all pro-Rex.

Reince Priebus will also be on this morning, dropping by “Fox News Sunday” to spin for all things Trump. The full line-up is at the AP.
