Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

One of the many benefits of the GOP’s Senate takeover is that it’s spared us a slow post-New-Year’s Sunday show line-up that inevitably would have focused on — groan — the Steve Scalise controversy. Instead the menu this morning is packed with members of the new majority. Incoming leader Mitch McConnell and NRSC chairman Roger Wicker are guests on “State of the Union”; Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Corker and Senate Republican Conference chairman John Thune will appear on “Fox News Sunday”; Republican Policy Committee chairman John Barrasso will lead “Meet the Press”; and freshmen Ben Sasse and Thom Tillis will take center stage on “This Week.” New Rep. Mia Love, the first black Republican woman elected to Congress, is also scheduled for that last show. The likelihood that her first question will be about Scalise approaches 100 percent.

Elsewhere, Chuck Schumer will be on “Face the Nation” to explain why Senate filibusters are suddenly cool again. The full line-up is at the AP.
