Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

This week’s Sunday shows are a salvage operation, as John Kerry and White House chief of staff Denis McDonough sift through the wreckage of O’s ISIS speech in search of a coherent policy. Waffles will appear on “Face the Nation” while McDonough is featured on “Meet the Press,” “Fox News Sunday,” “This Week,” and “State of the Union.” One key question: Are we in a war or is this a counterterror operation? It took two days for the “smart power” brain trust to get its act together on that. Expect to hear this morning that the new mission is both a dessert topping and a floor wax.

“Fox News Sunday,” “Face the Nation,” and “State of the Union” are each planning discussions of the Ray Rice suspension too, which I’m guessing will be unwatchable even by the usual standards of Sunday-show CW. Oh, and no John McCain this morning: Somehow, the most-booked Sunday guest of the past five years is a no-show the weekend after a de facto declaration of war. Thank heaven for small mercies, my friends. The full line-up is at the Orlando Sentinel.
