Video: Naked protest in John Boehner's office not as interesting as you'd think

Via RCP, consensus opinion on Twitter seems to be that (a) this isn’t remotely as titillating as it sounded at first blush and (b) yes, Bill Clinton would have nonetheless loved it.

The way we’re going, if they had been protesting entitlement reform, Reid, Schumer, and Durbin might have been there bare-assed with them:

Social Security does not contribute to the federal deficit and should not be a part of ongoing negotiations to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Tuesday, in a speech billed as a “major address making the progressive case for a bipartisan fiscal cliff deal.”

Durbin’s line in the sand on Social Security reflects an increasingly aggressive effort by Democrats to block changes to the program…

In Durbin’s remarks, which were prepared for delivery at the Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank and political operation, he said that Medicare and Medicaid should be off the table during fiscal cliff negotiations. “Progressives should be willing to talk about ways to ensure the long-term viability of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, but those conversations should not be part of a plan to avert the fiscal cliff,” Durbin said.

See Guy Benson for more on the deep seriousness of pretending to fiscal responsibility while leaving the biggest driver of federal debt long-term untouched. Like Mike Flynn, I can’t figure out what’s left of the “balanced approach” that GOP tax heretics like Saxby Chambliss and Lindsey Graham might (but probably won’t) embrace. Republicans agree to new revenue, probably involving closing tax loopholes and eliminating deductions and possibly even allowing the Bush tax cuts for the rich to lapse, and Democrats agree to … once again stay far, far away from touching Medicare and Social Security? Says Flynn, “Why is the media not seeking out some ‘adult’ Democrat who is willing to admit that we have a serious spending problem and need to reform entitlements?” Yeah, why? I’ll even settle for some naked protesters in Reid’s office with “SUSTAINABILITY” painted on their cheeks.

There’s nothing prurient here but since boobage is periodically displayed, here’s your official content warning. Exit question via ABC: Why were the topless women arrested but not the men? It’s legal in D.C., you know.
