The trainwreck "Mr. McAdams" Indian TV interview

I can’t say much to describe it up front or else I’ll spoil the punchline. But it’s a comfort to know that Indian infotainment is just as screechy and ill-informed as American cable-news infotainment is.

There, as here, it doesn’t matter whom you’re yelling at. Just that you’re yelling.

Speaking of screechy and ill-informed infotainment, bid adieu to the American arm of Russia’s propaganda channel, RT. It’s going away, along with most of the rest of Russia’s economy:

Misha Solodovnikov, the general manager of T&R Productions, told staff in the memo that [RT America] will be “ceasing production” at all of its locations “as a result of unforeseen business interruption events.”

“Unfortunately, we anticipate this layoff will be permanent, meaning that this will result in the permanent separation from employment of most T&R employees at all locations,” Solodovnikov wrote…

The news would mean an effective end to RT America. The network, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s main mouthpieces in the US, was dropped earlier this week by DirecTV, dealing a major financial blow to it. The satellite carrier was one of the two major television providers in the US to carry the network.

Just another day in the global deplatforming of all things Russian. Uyghur activists must have watched the last two weeks with mystification, wondering why a declaration of war is worthy of an international effort to ostracize the aggressor while an ongoing genocide that involves mass internment of a religious minority in concentration camps doesn’t warrant so much as a hashtag.

RT, the parent organization of RT America, is also suddenly having trouble gaining a media foothold amid the mass cancellation campaign. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have all restricted access to its content in the past week and Roku has dumped it from their platform. Luckily for Putin, though, the network has found an outlet that’s still willing to carry it: Rumble, the conservative-aligned video site that recently announced a partnership with Trump’s new social-media company.

From now on, look there for all of your Kremlin war propaganda needs.

Here’s the Indian TV clip. It’s been a surprisingly good week for palate-cleansing viral videos.
