A culture that regards the use of crosshairs imagery in election advertising as dangerously irresponsible should probably also blanch at loose invocations of “jihad” against a disfavored political regime, no? Especially if those remarks are prefaced by a glowing mention of an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. It’ll be fun watching the usual people defend this on grounds that we’re putting the worst possible spin on Sarsour’s meaning days after they called Trump’s stupid wrestling GIF an incitement to his fans to attack journalists.
This comes from the Islamic Society of North America’s recent conference. Among the other speakers, per Conservative Review’s Jordan Schachtel:
Other speakers sharing a stage with Sarsour include a Holocaust denier, multiple imams who support the death penalty for homosexuals, the daughter of a deported terrorist, and individuals who have advocated for Muslims to not cooperate with FBI terror investigations. One such speaker threatened fellow Muslims with physical violence for cooperating with police.
Who’s Linda Sarsour? A few of her greatest hits, via Ben Shapiro:
Sarsour, who was called a “Champion of Change” by the Obama White House, has a long history of speaking kindly of shariah law and terrorists. Sarsour stated that underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was a CIA agent; she supports attacks on the Israeli Defense Force; she stated that “the sacrifice the black Muslims slaves went through in this country is nothing compared to Islamophobia today”; she stated that Brigitte Gabriel and victim of Islamic genital mutilation Ayaan Hirsi Ali didn’t deserve to be called women, explaining, ‘I wish I could take their vaginas away – they don’t deserve to be women.”
She’s sufficiently mainstream on the left to have helped organize the Women’s March that drew huge crowds to Washington the day after Trump’s inauguration. Don’t give up on the clip after the “jihad” part, either: At the end she tells the crowd that their top priority should be to defend their community, not to assimilate. She’s cutting a campaign commercial for Trump here whether she realizes it or not.
