Sunday morning talking heads

Lots of news this week to be digested, but oddly the Sunday shows have no star guests scheduled to tackle any of it. No one relevant is booked to discuss the UK elections. Likewise with the Gulf standoff between Qatar and its neighbors, which drew comment from both the president and the Secretary of State on Friday. Most surprisingly, there are no White House surrogates on tap (as of Saturday morning) to discuss Comey versus Trump. The closest thing to a major player is former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who’ll be on “This Week” to discuss his own presidential firing. Maybe Marc Kasowitz, Trump’s Russiagate attorney, will enlist for a few eleventh-hour interviews.

The closest thing to a major appearance this morning comes from Mike Lee, who’ll precede Bharara on “This Week” to announce whether the new Senate health-care bill is already dead on arrival among conservatives or stands a chance of passage. Over on “State of the Union,” Susan Collins will give her own prognosis on behalf of moderates. And Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer will be on “Face the Nation” for a traditional battle o’ the talking points over Russiagate and various other Senate business. The full line-up is at the AP.
