Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

It’s an early Christmas present for grassroots conservatives as their two favorite Republicans are set for this morning’s Sunday shows to discuss the grotesque new omnibus spending package. Paul Ryan will be on “Meet the Press” and Mitch McConnell will appear on “State of the Union” to explain how this was all John Boehner’s fault and it’ll certainly never happen again. McConnell will probably also press the point that we shouldn’t be nominating any nutty tea partiers for president, a flawed message coming from an even more flawed messenger after the week he and Ryan just had.

If you’re looking for 2016ers instead, Trump and Chris Christie will be on “This Week,” Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush will guest on “Face the Nation,” Rand Paul will follow his pal Mitch on “State of the Union,” and Carly Fiorina will appear on “Fox News Sunday.” As I write this on Saturday morning, I believe Jeb Bush is the only main-stager at the last debate to have attacked Trump for flirting with Putin. That will change on Sunday. The full line-up is at the AP.
