I have my differences with the man, but there are some insults no one deserves.

Besides, the feud with Rosie was probably his finest hour.

This Super PAC isn’t the pro-Kasich one I wrote about earlier, by the way. This is something different. A coordinated anti-Trump assault is coming.

The most concerted effort is Trump Card LLC, the guerilla campaign being launched by Liz Mair, former online communications director of the Republican National Committee.

“In the absence of our efforts, Trump is exceedingly unlikely to implode or be forced out of the race,” according to the Trump Card memo. “The stark reality is that unless something dramatic and unconventional is done, Trump will be the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton will become president.”…

One possible ad would link Mr. Trump’s views and style to his celebrity foe, Rosie O’Donnell, in hopes of provoking a reaction from Mr. Trump, according to the memo.

Other possible tactics include fake pro-Trump ads that show him supporting socialized medicine, seizing property through eminent domain and taking other positions that stray from GOP orthodoxy; using a Trump impersonator to show him insulting people; and attacking his business record in “stark, nasty terms.”…

The goal, according to the memo, isn’t to covert Mr. Trump’s supporters into backing other candidates, but to dissuade them from voting altogether, especially in New Hampshire’s influential first-in-the-nation primary.

Mair is the former Scott Walker aide who resigned earlier this year after she got in trouble for old tweets criticizing Iowans. Who’s funding the PAC? That’s confidential. They don’t have to disclose their donors. (Rick Wilson, a Republican consultant and one of Trump’s fiercest critics in conservative Twitter circles, did tell the Journal he’ll make ads for the group.) The strategy seems smart, if risky: Trump’s great strength potentially is that he can bring back center-right blue-collar voters who’ve felt disaffected towards the GOP lately and stayed home in 2012. Some of them are excited about Trump; if you can make them feel disaffected towards him too, maybe they’ll stay home on primary night again. You’ve got a better chance of making that happen at this point than convincing them that that they should be supporting immigration fan Marco Rubio instead. But then, if they stay home on primary night in disgust, maybe their disgust carries over next year and they end up staying home on election night 2016. If you blow up Trump this way, you might be blowing up more than just him. How likely are his voters to turn out for some other GOP nominee? That’s the key question here.

By the way, he called for a new “governmental program” to help college students refinance their student loans yesterday in Iowa, so we can look forward to that in 2017 if Trump Card LLC fails.
