Via Newsbusters, there’s a cold chill headed down my spine as I imagine Sanders dialing her up after watching this. “Are you feeling the Bern? Would you like to?”
The worst part is what’s got her hot and bothered. It’s not so much the sweet socialist nothings he was whispering in her ear through the TV, it’s his gutless defense of Hillary’s server scandal as a big nothing that’s not worth the public’s time. Let me remind you that the FBI is taking the potential breach to national security and mishandling of classified information seriously enough to have launched an investigation into it, despite the potentially cataclysmic electoral consequences for the Democratic powers-that-be. Bernie Sanders, who styles himself among other things as a good-government type who’ll drain the Washington swamp, didn’t even want the subject broached even though his movement and his agenda would stand to benefit from it directly. Last night was his opportunity to convince the left that this isn’t some phony GOP-generated scandal but rather Exhibit Z in how the Clintons, as royal members of America’s political class, feel they’re above the law. It was an easy lay-up, and he blew it on purpose because he’s less concerned about Hillary abusing her power than about being seen as an ally of the Republicans on this discrete issue. And meanwhile, here’s Joy Behar heavy-breathing over the whole loathsome spectacle.
Actually, I take it back. The worst part of this is knowing that some sick bastard out there is already writing Internet fanfic about this scenario. Rule 34, my friends. It’s a black hole from which there’s no escape.
