Via the Daily Caller, I don’t get it. She said we could cut ISIS recruitment by creating job opportunities. When she was criticized for that, she doubled down and accused her critics of not being as “nuanced” as she is. A day after that, she mentioned Joseph Kony’s self-styled “Christian” terrorist outfit as proof that the world’s many, many international Islamic terror groups don’t necessarily point to a problem within Islam.
Everything she said is what President SeeNoEvil believes so why shouldn’t she be his chief mouthpiece at State? Is he mad that she forgot to mention this week that the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam?
Marie Harf, the embattled State Department deputy spokeswoman who insisted this week that helping ISIS jihadis find gainful employment was a better strategy than killing them, is not in line for a promotion when her boss moves to the White House on April 1, a State Department official said Thursday…
Those mockworthy moments [this week], a State Department official said Thursday, ‘are going to keep her from the top job.’…
‘Jen’s move to the White House isn’t something that happened overnight,’ the official said, ‘and Marie’s TV appearances were an audition of sorts, a test run, and she failed spectacularly.’
She failed spectacularly? By … accurately stating her boss’s views?
I dunno, guys. An administration willing to make a dial tone like Jay Carney its mouthpiece to the universe surely can find a place of prestige for Coke Bottles here, if only as a form of hazard pay for having to carry their stupid “ISIS is not Islamic” message to the masses. Frankly, I wonder if our famously sexist White House doesn’t have a double standard for press flacks in which nerdy guys like Robert Gibbs and Carney get promoted while nerdy gals like Harf are held back, forced to suffer the deputy’s indignity of — shudder — being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer. Luckily all that will change once Hillary is president. Exit question: Who gets named press secretary for President Clinton — Psaki or Harf? Naming them as co-chiefs and having them give the daily briefing together would be magical for everyone, I think.
