We’re long overdue for a post-election palate cleanser. Given the buzz on Twitter, this’ll do nicely. Am I right in thinking this movie wasn’t originally going to be made? Peter Jackson was set to do “The Hobbit” in two parts but then decided that he couldn’t skip the Battle of the Five Armies, which required part three. People scoffed at that, thinking that “The Hobbit” was too thin a story to support another trilogy. After seeing this, I’m not so sure. Damn, it’s epic-y.

We’re nearing the point FX-wise where we really don’t need actual human actors anymore in big-budget features, do we?
