After a long week of Ebola jitters, the feds are sending out the big guns this morning to calm everyone down. CDC chief Tom Frieden will be the star guest on “This Week” and “State of the Union” while NIH head Anthony Fauci will appear on “Face the Nation” and “Fox News Sunday” to assure the nation that they’ve got this virus by the throat, even though (a) there’s no reliable way to stop infected people from getting on planes; (b) the hospital in Dallas sent Thomas Duncan home from the ER after being told he’d come from Liberia; (c) it was days before the apartment where he was staying with family members was sanitized; and (d) their estimate of how many people in Dallas had contact with Duncan before he was hospitalized jumped from 18 to 80 to 100 in 48 hours. No worries.
If you’d rather hear political blather about the midterms instead, Reince Priebus and Obama advisor Dan Pfeiffer will be on “Meet the Press.” Oh, and the next president of the United States is scheduled to follow Frieden on “State of the Union,” in case you want a preview of what American government will look like circa 2017. Hint: Lots more war. The full line-up is at the AP.
