Tea time for the Sunday shows this morning as Rand Paul gets the spotlight on “Meet the Press” and Ted Cruz headlines “Face the Nation.” Topic du jour: With the next debt-ceiling standoff just weeks away, what’ll be their ask this time for raising it? And does it even matter? Centrist Republicans in the House and Senate won’t be as willing to go to the mat on this as they were with the shutdown now that the midterms are in sight. Expect the requisite questions about the NSA too, especially with the RNC having gone full Paul on Friday in calling for reform. Cruz has been trying to build his reputation as an NSA critic lately with an eye to 2016. He might out-Rand Rand this morning on the subject.
Elsewhere, White House lackeys Jay Carney and Dan Pfeiffer will be on “This Week” and “Fox News Sunday,” respectively, to preview the State of the Union speech that America can’t wait for. The full line-up is at Politico.
