Video: Rapper kicked offstage at private preinaugural concert for criticizing Obama?

The organizers insist he wasn’t kicked offstage for criticizing Obama, just for playing the same song over and over, but then they also said afterward that the concert was an “event celebrating innovation/startups” and that appears to be not quite the full truth either. Per their website, it was billed as an “Inaugural celebration … celebrating President Obama’s 2nd term and honoring innovation.” When you’re putting together an event like that, naturally you want your headliner to be a guy like this:

During an interview with CBS in 2011, he called the president a terrorist. Lupe said, “My fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama and the United States of America. I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism.”

“You know, the root cause of terrorism is the stuff the U.S. government allows to happen. The foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists.”

Lupe has also criticized Obama’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has stated that he does not vote in elections because of his anti-establishment views.

Sure enough, the key bit here has him griping about Obama’s inaction over Gaza. Not long ago, making the president uncomfortable on inauguration weekend by criticizing his policy on the Palestinians would have earned you some truth-to-power cred from mainstream liberals. With a Democrat in the White House, though, the highest-profile media outlet that’s likely to reward this guy with airtime is Democracy Now. If he was smart, he would have rapped about drone strikes instead. The left still at least pretends, sort of, to care about that.

Maybe Fox News will have him on? An O’Reilly/Fiasco interview would be glorious.

Update: My mistake. Fiasco already appeared on “The Factor” two years ago. And it was indeed glorious.
