Murkowski: When Obama does well, that means the country’s doing well

Is that right? Every last Obama legislative victory necessarily means that America’s welfare improves? This is Rush’s “I hope he fails” edict turned on its head, for which Murky will be roundly congratulated by liberals. I can’t wait until the GOP is in control of government again and that gets turned around on them. Social Security and Medicare reform: Because when Republicans do well, that means America does well.

She was back on the floor of the Senate for the first time in weeks today, incidentally. Biiiiig hugs:

The Alaska Republican told reporters that she got assurances she could keep the ranking member position during a meeting Monday with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

“The conversation was very general and very friendly and very cordial and very assuring that you haven’t lost anything around here Lisa, in terms of your seniority or the respect of your colleagues,” Murkowski said…

Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the lead of the GOP campaign operations, congratulated her. Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) walked off the floor with her to hear stories of some of the more unusual write-in votes, including people who substituted hearts for the dot on the letter ‘I’ in her last name. Sen. John Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) gave her a bear hug as she boarded the underground Senate subway.

Two clips for you, one of her talking about Obama and the other praising Mike Castle, just to rub a little salt in the tea-party wound. Not seen here: Murky dumping on Palin’s lack of “intellectual curiosity” and suggesting to Katie Couric that compromise might be possible with the left on energy policy, which of course she’ll be uniquely positioned to pursue thanks to the GOP’s refusal to strip her of her seniority. Great work again, guys. Click the image to watch.
