Cindy McCain in "No H8" ad: It sure would be nice if certain people would finally get rid of DADT

If you’re not sure who she means, here’s a hint. She’s probably not talking about Obama.

Alternate headline: “Greatest family dinner-table argument evah.

Speaking in a video for an ad campaign aimed at ending the bullying toward gay teenagers, Cindy McCain, the wife of Senator John McCain of Arizona, sounds like she’s talking about her husband when she faces the camera and says: “Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future.”…

After other speakers point out that “these laws that legislate discrimination teach bullies that what they’re doing is acceptable,” Mrs. McCain asks: “Our government treats the LGBT community like second class citizens — why shouldn’t they?”

I agree with her on the merits, but cutting an ad calling her own husband a “H8” who’s unwittingly encouraging gay teens to kill themselves? Couldn’t you just punish him by having him sleep on the couch or something? Good lord.

What this means, I guess, is that when it comes to political debates inside the family, Meggie’s the one with the real influence. Gulp. Exit question: Any chance that the First Lady might cut an ad for, say, the Club for Growth? “Our political leaders tell small businesses that they have no future…”
