Report: Obama tells DOJ to consider alternative venues for KSM trial

Read the fine print. There’s no hint that KSM’s being sent back to a military tribunal, only that he may end up being tried in a civilian court not located in New York. Which isn’t entirely smart, by the way: As I said from the very beginning, if there’s any city with the security apparatus in place to deal with threats from jihadbots, it’s my hometown. But if even Bloomberg, who just started his third and last term as mayor and has no electoral incentive to oppose the trial, is now also against it, maybe I need to rethink my assumptions.

White House officials have told the Justice Department to consider other venues for the 9/11 terror trial that was to be held in lower Manhattan, the Daily News has learned.

The decision came after Mayor Bloomberg and other politicians across the state railed against President Obama’s plan to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Manhattan Federal Court.

Boehner all but guaranteed yesterday that the trial was off. Today none other than Dianne Feinstein piled on, which might have convinced The One that even leftist support for an NYC trial was too shaky ahead of the midterms. Quote: “There are other places to try it in the U.S. that are much more remote, much less a target, and much less a squatting ground for propaganda around the world.” Here’s a sample from Liz Cheney’s group of what the Dems will be looking at in October if they don’t follow through on this.

Update: Sounds like the KSM scoop is for real. Major Garrett’s hearing the same thing.
