Video: Google's mildly awesome new phone app

It’s not quite awesomely awesome just because the range of objects it can recognize is limited, but we’re well on our way here to Destination: Awesomeville. The concept will be familiar to anyone who’s played with the Shazam app on the iPhone, but for obvious reasons this is considerably more impressive. We haven’t done a tech post in ages so let me tell Hot Air newbies how this typically works: I get excited about some new hardware or software product and then the techies in our comments section tell me why (a) it actually sucks, (b) nothing truly cool will ever come of it, and/or (c) they already own or have used a similar product that’s superior in every way. So have at it. Why is this lame, and where may I obtain a substitute that is less lame?

Oh, also: How many decades will it be before kids no longer need writing to communicate in any way? Two? One?
