Biden: We must bankrupt the country to avoid bankrupting it

Behold the reductio ad absurdam of Keynesianism, oblivious to the fact of trillion-dollar deficits as far as the eye can see. The One’s going to kill off those economic flu germs that are hounding us no matter how many shots of cyanide it takes.

“And folks look, AARP knows and the people working here today know, the president knows, and I know, that the status quo is simply not acceptable,” Biden said at the event on Thursday in Alexandria, Va. “It’s totally unacceptable. And it’s completely unsustainable. Even if we wanted to keep it the way we have it. It can’t do it financially.”

“We’re going to go bankrupt as a nation,” Biden said.

“Well, people that I say that to say, ‘What are you talking about, you’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, I’m telling you.”

In vintage Biden fashion, the venue at which he chose to dispense this pearl of wisdom was an AARP town hall on health-care reform, even though (a) the CBO obliterated his argument mere hours before and (b) as Dick Morris recently noted, if there’s any one demographic group that’s going to take it in the pants on medical treatment after ObamaCare passes, it’s the elderly. House Blue Dogs claim they have the votes to kill it in committee unless substantial changes are made but The One coolly and confidently keeps lying his ass off about what effect the program will have on competition. Something’s got to give. How lucky do you feel?

Oh, in related news, Charlie Crist says the $787 billion stimulus “stabilization” bill is working. Here’s the obligatory link to the Rubio for Senate donation page.
